The Breakaway Concept
Breakaway Racing is a Seattle area cycling team that supports local charities and nonprofits based on race results.
Our Philosophy
We think racers put a lot of passion into cycling and winning races. We think it'd be great to take the same passion and transmit some of the energy behind it back into the local community. We've come up with a charity contribution equation that factors in three variables: race result, race starters and race category. The output results in a number and, after affixing a money sign to that number, our sponsors and pledgers donate the amount to a local charity or nonprofit group. It's a new idea and we're excited about it.
How It Works
Our race results will be inputted into a formula called the Charity Contribution Equation. When calculated and totaled, this equation determines how much our sponsors and pledgers will donate to a charity or NPO at the end of the racing season. For our debut year, we are supporting the NW branch of SOS Outreach.The amount donated by one racer or the entire team may seem small at first, but our long-term vision is to bolster our ranks (and speed!) so that over a season, our collective effort will result in a substantial donation amount.
